Yes, and that is the usual starting point. We audit what you have (identity, MFA, conditional access, mailbox rules, sharing settings, licences), fix what is unsafe first, then bring the rest up to our baseline over the first month. Nothing is rebuilt for the sake of it.
Not in the way most people assume. Microsoft keeps the service running and holds deleted items for a limited window, but it does not give you a point-in-time restore of a mailbox, a SharePoint site or a Teams channel from six months ago. We run a separate backup of Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams with three years of retention as standard.
Every licence is tied to a named account and reviewed at renewal. Leavers are removed and their licence released the same day; underused SKUs are downgraded or removed. Most tenants we inherit are paying for between ten and twenty percent more seats than they have people.
