Common questions about connectivity and networks.
What is the difference between business broadband and a leased line?
Business broadband (FTTP or SoGEA) shares capacity with other users and comes with a best-efforts fix time. A leased line is a dedicated circuit with the same speed up and down, a guaranteed fix time in the contract and a service credit if it is missed. We recommend broadband with 4G or 5G failover for most small offices and a leased line where downtime costs real money.
How long does it take to get a new circuit installed?
FTTP broadband is typically live in two to three weeks where the fibre is already in the street. A leased line takes longer, usually 45 to 90 working days, because the carrier has to survey and sometimes dig. We order the circuit as soon as the lease is signed and put a temporary 4G or 5G service in if the office needs to open before it lands.
Can you take over a network somebody else installed?
Yes. We survey what is there, document it, and tell you what is worth keeping. Firewalls and Wi-Fi that we can manage properly stay; unsupported or end-of-life kit is replaced on a plan you agree to, not as a surprise on the first invoice.
What happens when the internet goes down?
Every circuit we manage is monitored from our NOC around the clock, so we usually know before you do. Critical circuits carry 4G or 5G failover that cuts in automatically, and we own the fault with the carrier from the first call to the fix, so you are never left chasing a provider yourself.
Do you supply and manage the phone system as well?
Yes. Most of our clients run telephony inside Microsoft Teams so calls follow the person, not the desk. We port your numbers, set up call queues and auto-attendants, and manage the whole thing alongside the network so voice quality problems are ours to solve, not passed between two suppliers.
Which Wi-Fi equipment do you use?
Ubiquiti UniFi and TP-Link Omada for the majority of offices, with a design based on a site survey rather than guesswork. Both give us cloud management, guest networks kept apart from the business, and the visibility to find a rogue device or a dead access point quickly.
